The 4SG system uses a reactive thermoplastic warm-edge spacer with lower thermal conductivity than conventional aluminium spacers. This helps reduce heat transfer around the perimeter of the insulated glass unit.
The improvement in whole-unit U-value depends on the glass composition, cavity width, gas filling, Low-E coating, frame system, and overall window design. Suitability for passive-house or green-building projects must therefore be evaluated using the complete glazing-system data.
By limiting thermal bridging, the warm-edge spacer can maintain a higher internal glass-surface temperature around the perimeter of the IGU. This helps reduce the likelihood of edge condensation under cold or humid conditions.
Actual condensation performance also depends on indoor humidity, outdoor temperature, installation quality, glass configuration, and window-frame performance.
The 4SG spacer integrates the spacer, desiccant, and primary-seal functions into one reactive thermoplastic material. It bonds with the glass and compatible secondary sealant to form a flexible edge-sealing system.
Low moisture-vapour and gas permeability help support long-term cavity dryness, gas retention, and insulated-glass performance. Final durability depends on manufacturing control, secondary-seal compatibility, handling, and installation.
4SG warm-edge insulated glass can be combined with Low-E glass, tempered glass, laminated safety glass, tinted glass, and other functional glazing products.
It is suitable for double- and triple-glazed configurations used in windows, doors, curtain walls, façades, skylights, and structural glazing. Glass thickness, cavity width, gas filling, coating, and overall dimensions can be specified according to project requirements.
Reducing thermal transfer around the edge of the IGU can contribute to improved building-envelope performance and lower heating or cooling demand.
The environmental benefit should be assessed using the complete window or façade system, local climate, building design, operational energy consumption, and applicable sustainability standard.
