Technical Spotlight: High-Performance Laminated and Insulated Glass Facade System
The glass curtain wall strategy of Shaoxing Coastal New City Water Street adopts two glass combinations, each of which is carefully designed to play a specific performance role in the building envelope:
Laminated Glass for Safety and Impact Resistance: This laminated glass structure improves impact resistance and provides some sound insulation, helping to create a safer and more comfortable environment.
Interlayer for Enhanced Safety: The 1.14mm PVB interlayer firmly bonds the glass layers together, ensuring that fragments remain attached even if the glass breaks. This significantly reduces the risk of injury, making it suitable for high-traffic commercial areas.
Insulated Low-E Glass for Thermal Performance: Low-E tempered insulated glass provides excellent thermal insulation, with the Low-E coating reducing infrared radiation and improving overall energy efficiency.
12A Cavity for Insulation and Stability: The 12A cavity achieves the best balance between thermal insulation and structural stability, minimizing convective heat transfer while also contributing to sound insulation and preventing condensation.
